LATEST NEWS
26.04.25 -- Finally an update! :D I have been given permission to publish the English language version of
Tookato's wonderful graphic adventure game "Ropoko". This will come in a large sized clamshell case with two
cassettes. To begin with, the MZ-700 version will be released. I do also plan to release the MZ-80K version
after this. More news over the coming weeks...
15.08.23 -- Just a short update for now. We have a new batch of Beyond tapes in the works, a final
batch of 20 tapes which will also include an exclusive new loading screen designed by
datad00r. We also have some excellent news that we may well
have a review feature of both Beyond and Numbertron in an upcoming issue of Retrogamer Magazine :) Finally, it
is also highly likely that a final batch of Numbertron tapes will be produced too on the back of the
Retrogamer article.
09.02.23 -- Recently some supposed 'hackers' managed to take this site down. I've moved host now and
have implemented SSL also. It's likely as the site had been dormant for some time (and it was on a
free web host) that this made things easier for them to do this. It's now highly unlikely that
situation will occur again.
As far as Sharpworks news goes : We are still here and still working on projects. Various life events
have slowed down progress on those projects but things should start picking up again very soon. The
proposed Fast Loader for the MZ-80A (with possible compatibility with MZ-80K) will be the first project
to be completed and that is coming in the next month or two. Please keep a look out on Twitter also for
more granular updates on projects.
03.07.21 -- We're very pleased to announce that our latest release Numbertron is available now from our
online store. This is MZ author Joachim Froholt's second game for Sharpworks and has been designed
to work on the MZ-80 and MZ-700 machines (also the MZ-1200 as the game is compatible with the Japanese
MZ machines also). This is a really fun and addictive puzzle game which will keep you busy for a long time!
20.03.21 -- Currently I'm working on my third and final 10 line BASIC game for the competition run by
@Basic10L (see this site here for more details
on that). Only a week left! I also have a little surprise I've been working on for the usual Follow
Friday (#FF) which frequently occurs on Twitter. Once these are out of the way I have several projects
to finish off (and some to begin!). Firstly, the Fast Loader for the MZ-80. This has stalled for a long
time so I will be picking this up again and finishing it off. After that I plan to write a full machine
code game and also make a new BASIC interpreter for the MZ-80 which will be game-oriented and will
provide some nice new features (for instance, software sprites) which the standard BASIC doesn't provide.
05.03.21 -- I shall be updating this news section a lot more often from now on. Currently we have a new batch
of 'Beyond' in stock on the store here and this is a special
final version with a cardboard sleeve and a much faster loading time (under two minutes!). Also, Minesnake
author Joachim Froholt has finished work on his latest MZ game 'Numbertron'. A digital download of this game
is currently available from his itch.io site here. However, Sharpworks
will be releasing a special edition physically on cassette in the near future.
14.08.20 -- Apologies for the lack of updates. Lockdown has been fairly intensive with Life-related activities.
Our new game 'Beyond' was released a little while back. It then sold out! But we now have a new batch of Beyond
cassettes ready and waiting in our new store here. I will be
hopefully uploading a video of some gameplay from Beyond later today as well.
01.06.20 -- Welcome to the first news update on the site! Apologies that I haven't been updating our website in
some time but the good news is there should be a lot more activity now in the world of Sharpworks. We are just
on the brink of releasing our 2nd game. The game is called Beyond and is for the MZ-700. More news very soon now
but hopefully we should be putting this game up on the newly re-designed Sharpworks Store within the next week.
Look out for it!
